Merida UK rider Paul Hopkins is licking enduro blood
Due to his fiancés birthday Merida UK cross country power house Paul Hopkins could not make the trip to Dalby to get involved in the World Cup, but rather than sit at home the whole weekend and let his Time Trail race training (five starts / five wins) go to waste he decided to take part in the local Dorset Rough Riders MTB Enduro.
With plenty of stamina in his legs and new found speed he was the man to beat in the 2 hour enduro. Initially breaking away with team-mate Greg Shroesbree (also Merida UK) the pair worked well together up to point where Greg punctured. From then onwards reigning national Veterans point champion Hopkins was on his own but dealt well with the course and the chasing group bringing home the win ahead of Roland Tilley and James Horton.
Hopkins commented after the race “We did say before the race we would work together because it was quite windy, Greg is getting really strong, and if he had not punctured it would have been close. I have been getting some more training in and it makes a difference. The next couple of months are pretty busy, I am getting married in July and I am on a 6 week pass!”
More from Paul and his successful use of his 6 weeks pass soon!
