MTB HARDTAILS

Also the MERIDA hardtail family has been extended for MY 2013: Via the integration of the HARDY models from the UMF series, we now offer dirtbikes (from beginner to pro version) on which the UMF team has been performing successfully at international contests for years.

Especially in the hardtail sector, Twentyniners have established themselves as an essential part of today’s bike world. Good to know that the big-wheeled MERIDAs enter their third model year now and thus benefit from competent R&D experience – plus the fact that our MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM scored nearly all successes of last season (incl. one European Championship title) on this bike. For 2013, the BIG.NINE offers many new features: The high-end versions delight with further weight optimization and with a new rear stay whose flax fibres, as part of the carbon structure, increase comfort perceptibly once again. All LITE versions now feature shorter chain stays and a direct-mount bracket for the derailleur. Carbon fans enjoy new carbon frames priced below the high-end line.

There are many good reasons for choosing a carbon hardtail. But there are also a lot of equally good reasons for selecting a model with aluminium frame. Because aluminium bikes are far from being “old-school” or “boring” – especially when they are made by MERIDA: During “Hydroforming”, hot oil pushes the frame blank under high pressure (working from inside to the outside) into exciting shapes. So thanks to this production process, all MATTS LITE models show their most beautiful side. And not entirely by chance, these aluminium hardtails base on the geometry of our high-end carbon model O.NINE. This states clearly: A MATTS LITE is a race bike eager to take its pilot into the top flight on challenging courses. Two model versions for 2013, each with 100 mm suspension travel.

Right from the start, a MATTS is an ideal choice when you are favouring a high-quality MERIDA bike. With its frame consisting of high-quality “Racelite 6061” aluminium, our MATTS is equally suitable for swift training units after work and for long, pleasant weekend tours with the family: The MATTS geometry is not too aggressive and therefore guarantees long hours of fun in the saddle. Thanks to the organic design language, a MATTS is also a highly attractive partner for every day – last but not least also because of the “K-Mount” kickstand bracket or the mounting possibility for a luggage rack. The MERIDA MATTS hardtails of MY 2013 furthermore delight with disc or calliper brakes, 100 mm suspension forks at the front and, in case of some versions, also with new top tubes.

Sounds astounding, but has actually been realized by our R&D specialists: The new aluminium frame of the HARDY PRO series weighs 500 g less now – a fact which has already driven our team rider Thomas Genon to unimagined “altitude flights” at recent contests. The current frame with its slim serial weight of 1.9 kg catapults also your PRO TEAM or PRO 1 to an unimagined level! Or do you need more ruggedness because your style requires even tougher material? No problem: The two PRO STEEL versions are ideal weapons for easy dirt or skate park rides. And if you want an affordable start with a totally reliable frame while you are initially content with parts which do not cover the complete range of tricks: The models HARDY 4 to 6 provide a brilliant basis for component tuning.
