“The Reacto is based on the same frame as Centurion’s Megadrive in this test. According to Merida developer Jürgen Falke this is a ‘fast’ aero look with a contemporary function capable of long distances. For this reason these two frames achieve, thanks to large tube diameters and a modern, widening fork shaft, consistently modern stiffness – something that only a few of the bikes in the test manage to do. Only the seat post, with its distinct tear-drop shape, offers a modicum of comfort. Despite this, however, the impression given by the Reacto is good: the not overstretched riding position and the damped front end assure long-distance comfort and smoothness, yet precise and responsive steering provides accurate handling in all situations. Merida’s well-equipped marathon runner is thus one of the most versatile bikes in the test.CONCLUSION: The Merida presents itself as a marathon runner with smooth running, direct handling and sufficient riding comfort – and, despite the very hard tail, is a highly versatile bike.”
