Still a cautious trend at Eurobike 2010, but in MY 2012 an inherent part of nearly every road-racing program: Cutting-edge aero racing machines that break the visual monotony of conventional frame shapes without losing a premium racer’s strong virtues. At the pole position right from the start: Our MERIDA REACTO as one of the world’s most universal aero racers – with even more comfort in 2012.
After the REACTO’s introduction at Eurobike, the first comparative test mentioned “only positive reactions” (tour magazine 2/11) at the beginning of 2011. Besides design language perfection down to the very last detail and the low frame weight of 1048 g*, Juergen Falke’s (MERIDA’s Head of Design) latest success especially persuaded through its classic virtues: In spite of the aero design, our REACTO achieved initial stiffness data otherwise only known from the best traditional racing machines – and thus outclassed its competitors clearly from the outset. Therefore also the second leading bike journal RoadBike attested the MERIDA REACTO “precise handling in every situation” (RoadBike 3/11).

Obviously, our R&D experts did their homework very well when they used the multi-award-winning SCULTURA EVO as a role model for the derivation of a racing machine with modern semi-aero design. Thanks to the mighty BB30 bottom bracket with its stiffness of 125 N/mm and a steerer stiffness of 84 N/mm at the tapered head tube (RoadBike 3/11).
Our REACTO has proven right from the start that its “Structure Element Carbon” frame consisting of High Modulus (HM) fibres is well beyond all doubt. The “Double Chamber” technology in the down tube enhances the carbon construction’s torsional stiffness once again via a transversely integrated rib – actively supported by a full-carbon fork with “tapered steerer”. Thus this bike is designed for pure propulsion and maximum control.
The second REACTO model year delights with perfect integration of electronic Di2 shifting systems – and with the radical approach of providing contemporary comfort to aero racers that are, otherwise, perceived as very rigid: The magic word “S-Flex Comfort” represents a completely revised seat post which adapts the aero frame design like its precursor while still being fully adjustable. Due to its exceptional window construction with rear-side elastomer and integrated carbon compound spring, the patent-pending “S-Flex” achieves comfort data offered so far only by the best slim 27.2 mm seat posts – at a sensational net weight of 201 g and without any restrictions to the rider’s own weight. Compared with the 2011 version, our new “S-Flex” post works independently from saddle pullout. In every adjustment position, it hence offers comfort characteristics that may turn our REACTO into the probably most complete aero racing machine of Season 2012.
