RALPH NÄF

Stage win Cape Epic 2011

Ralph Näf looks back on a frustrating season: Due to various physical problems, the Swiss rider never really lived up to his class in 2011. On the contrary, he had to abandon races repeatedly due to bad back pain. This forced him to the drastic decision to forego competing at the World Championships in his native Switzerland and put an early end to the season. Instead, Ralph Näf gave his body the time it needed to recover, and spending time with his family – Ralph had recently become a father for the third time – also was a welcome opportunity to recharge his batteries. In the meantime, the reasons for his back pain have been found. therefore Näf is optimistic to return to his old strength, which would put him back into contention for one of the Swiss tickets to the Olympic games. Finishing on the podium at some national cyclocross races just before the end of 2011 goes to show that Näf is on the right way.
