Whether in marathon races on his own or teaming up with andreas kugler or Jochen Käß in stage races: Within the MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM, Hannes genze is one of the key players when it comes to long-distance racing. With a fourth-place finish at the european Marathon Championships and a bronze medal at the german Marathon Championships, genze fell a bit short of his own expectations in 2011. at the end of the year he was placed in 17th in the uCi’s world marathon ranking. at various stage races, he had more reasons to celebrate: teaming up with Jochen Käß, he finished in second overall at the Cape Epic, and together with andreas kugler he won a stage at the transalp. apart from being a mountain bike racer, genze has engineering degree and thus supports the development department of MERIDA & CENTURION GERMANY.
