	Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles continues as main sponsor of the Multivan Merida Biking Team Hanover/Majorca, 09 February 2012. The successful cooperation between Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and the mountain bike professionals at Merida is set to continue in 2012. The seven elite cyclists on the Multivan Merida Biking Team will continue to travel to all races and PR appearances at home and abroad in vehicles from the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand. The professional cyclists will have a total of 14 vehicles at their disposal: eight Multivans, one California Beach, two Transporter Kombis, two Crafter panel vans and a camper based on the Crafter. The Multivan Merida Biking Team competes in the Olympic discipline of XCO Cross Country and the long-distance MX Marathon event in more than 50 international mountain bike (MTB) competitions. They participate in the following categories: ladies' elite and men's elite. The race calendar takes the team to countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and Great Britain, but also as far afield as South Africa, the USA and Canada, as well as Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and T aiwan. A selection of team vehicles will be exhibited in the team area during all major international competitions. The sports professionals will also exhibit their commercial vehicles during Eurobike, the world's largest specialist bike fair, which takes place in Friedrichshafen. Merida is one of the world's largest manufacturers of premium bicycles and is renowned for developing very light, high-quality aluminium and carbon fibre frames. The Multivan Merida Biking Team has been in existence since 2004. Prior to that, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles had already been involved as a co-sponsor.
