Highlights of form and function

  • Our SCULTURA EVO LIGHT features solid carbon dropouts – not only ultra-resistant, but also extremely lightweight.
  • Thanks to “SURFACE BONDING” technology, re-engineered inserts are glued securely into the BB shells of all SCULTURA EVO frames creating a truly hollow bottom-bracket – compared to conventional integration methods (lamination of one-piece aluminium bushings), this permits another weight reduction of about 40 g.
  • The beautiful full-carbon fork of our SCULTURA EVO TEAM is a gracile, but nevertheless extremely durable piece of art – stunningly realized by our unique “DOUBLE CHAMBER” technology: A transverse oriented reinforcing rib grants superb lateral stability while providing excellent comfort and ultra-precise handling in direction of travel. This fork configuration is an essential basis for our SCULTURA’s phenomenal riding comfort.

Soft skills and hard facts

As winner of several international awards, the renowned design studio PDD also created the extremely harmonious, consistent and immediately convincing visual appearance of our SCULTURA EVO series. Each and every frame aspect was optimized by latest 3D software to guarantee perfect tube joints and timeless beauty from all perspectives.

According to the respective testing criteria of renowned TOUR and RoadBIKE magazines, MERIDA’s own R&D department set up demanding frame production standards – with outstanding result: Our experienced manufacturing partners from Taiwan brilliantly mastered the desired but decidedly difficult balancing act between contrary features (lowest possible weight, excellent comfort and superb stiffness) in the form of series-production quality.

Afterwards, long and intensive testing sessions by our MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM athletes completed the successful creation of our SCULTURA – now available in pure perfection.

New for 2010

All those in favour of extreme BB shell stiffness even outclassing our own “rigid” requirements now enjoy the option of ordering our SCULTURA EVO TEAM as BB30 version. The additional penalty of 30 grams – caused by the comparatively larger shell – is easily compensated via the decidedly more lightweight package of inner bearing and BB30 carbon crank-set using an oversized alloy spindle. Compared with conventional BB/crank combinations, the immense difference in stiffness is perceptible at very first trial – without any test bench!

Our newly developed MERIDA carbon seat post features a practice-oriented 15 mm offset while weighing just 195 g at 31.6/350 mm – not only one of the most lightweight versions on the market, but also a guarantee for outstanding comfort: Under load, this SCULTURA component offers 15 % more vertical flexibility than the current category reference model. In addition, our new seat post’s clamping system is perfectly compatible to all saddles with either metal or carbon rails.

Strong frame front: The head tube being shaped for the first time by HFS technology connects perfectly to the mighty HFS top and down tubes. This guarantees excellent head tube stiffness and transfers the forces form fork and brakes to the string chassis, while oversized head-set bearings being fashionable at these times become superfluous.


Amazing appearance: This perspective proves that MERIDA TFS technology already sets new benchmarks for middle-priced frames by offering features otherwise only found within the premium category of aluminium frames.
