MERIDA PRESS CAMP 2010

Presscamp of high importance for the Multivan Merida Biking Team

No other team in the sport of mountain biking enjoys such a high level of media interest as the «Multivan Merida Biking Team». More than 70 special interest and sports journalists from over 22 countries including the Republic of Korea used the opportunity to get in personal touch with Multivan-Merida’s athletes during a training camp at the end of February. This media event stretches over three days and thus is one of the biggest of its kind in mountain bike racing, reflecting the status of the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» as mountain biking’s most successful racing team.

Apart from offering numerous opportunities for exclusive in-depth interviews and discussions with the athletes, the team’s management and product engineers, there’s more to this press event, such as intense photo shootings or comprehensive opportunities for test rides with Merida’s latest models.

For Merida, this event has become a key factor today, which shows in the presence of the company’s general manager William Jeng and its head of product development Jürgen Falke. «Of course the press camp is important for our athletes mainly to communicate with journalists in an informal and most of all stress-free surrounding. But this event also serves as a platform to get our engineers, marketing specialists and even the company owner in touch with the international media», comments team manager Anreas Rottler on the press event’s background.

From a sportive point of view, the event also is of great importance for the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» as the island of Mallorca offers plenty of opportunities for the athletes to intensively prepare for the races ahead. Also, the training camp is the first time they all meet after the winter break – and a basis to build on a good mood within the team for the season ahead.
