MTB Team RacersGUNN-RITA DAHLE FLESJÅ

Last season Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå may have only competed in four out of a total of seven Worldcup races. Nevertheless the Norwegian finished the year in a respectable 6th place in the overall standings. After all Dahle Flesjå finished on the podium in all four races that she competed in: She was 3rd in Nove Mesto and 2nd in Pietermaritzburg, Albstadt and Méribel. Despite not winning a race, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå proved that she still is competitive at the very top of mountain bike Worldcup racing. On the other hand the Norwegian could not live up to her own expectations at the season’s highlight in front of her own fans: At the World championships in Hafjell, she never got up to speed throughout the race, having to settle for 9th place. At the national championship in July on the other hand she managed to win another national title. Her other wins of the year came at the opening round of the MTB Bundesliga in Saalhausen, at the International KitzAlp Bikefestival in Kirchberg/Tyrol and at the Ötztal Mountainbike Festival in Haiming.
As for the upcoming season, Gunn-Rita Dahle Felsjå has her sights set on Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic games already. She has been training hard throughout the winter to lay a solid foundation for a successful Worldcup season. Her first participation at the Cape Epic stage race is part of that build-up. Apart from a 29th Worldcup race win that would make her the most successful athlete ever in the sport, the Norwegian is looking to secure a ticket for the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. This would be the 5th Olympic participation for Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå. If you’re familiar with the Norwegian’s competitive mindset you know that she’s not planning to travel to Brazil for the sheer fun of it.
