After having won the European cross country championships in2009, Ralph Näf continued to add a second European marathon title to his tally the year after, and at the marathon World championships,he missed out on the victory ever so closely. That way, he could not repeat his double from 2006 when he won boththe marathon’s European and World championships. Näf’s focus is still on the Olympic cross country races, however, where heclimbed to the podium in three worldcup races in 2010. Next season, Näf has to do his best in order to position himself well inthe tough race for one of Switzerland’s three-men starting contingent at the Olympic games. And Näf has a reputation for peakingand excelling when it really counts.
