Multivan Merida Biking Team drives the latest T5 generation

Hanover, 20.02.2010 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is providing the Multivan Merida Biking Team with a total of 16 vehicles from the current product range.

The successful cooperation between Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and the mountain bike professionals at Merida will continue in 2010. In the future, the eight cyclists from the Multivan Merida Biking Team will continue to travel to all races and PR appearances both at home and abroad in vehicles from the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand. The pros have eight Multivan, two California Beach and two Transporter window vans from the latest T5 generation at their disposal. A mobile workshop has been integrated into a Volkswagen Crafter panel van. The team also has a camper van based on a Crafter, as well as two Crafter panel vans for transporting bicycles and other equipment.

The latest T5 generation has been on the market since last year. With the most modern engines and high-quality equipment, it is more efficient, cleaner, safer and more comfortable than ever before, thus setting a new automotive standard.

Merida is one of the world's largest makers of premium bicycles and is known for the development of high-quality and very light aluminium and carbon-fibre frames. The Multivan Merida Biking Team was founded in 2004; prior to that, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was already a co-sponsor.
