JOCHEN Käß

3rd at German national championships cross country 2009

Jochen Käß

Originally, the «Multivan Merida Biking Team» had signed Jochen Käß to score in long-distance races. But instead, the German rider regained his best form of earlier years in the Olympic cross country format, scoring multiple top20 placings and a third-place-finish at the German national championships. But unfortunately, top performances and injury-related misfortune followed each other closely during Jochen Käß’ 2009 season. In July, he broke his upper arm when practicing on Mont-Sainte-Anne’s Worldcup course. Nevertheless, he returned to racing in the same season, getting back to scoring top results impressively fast. Finishing in 20th position at the Worldcup finals after having broken his arm earlier on in the season is a more than remarkable performance. At the end of the season, tough luck struck again, as Käß suffered a broken fibula in an unfortunate crash. For 2010, Käß is planning to focus on both cross country and marathon races, putting an
emphasis on international championships.
