MBR calls the ONE-SIXTY FR a “hell of a lot of bike”

After the MRB crew tested the ONE-SIXTY at the end of last year and called it a “rollicking good bike”, it was no surprise that the new, slightly rowdier and burlier version would be welcomed with open arms.

Testing the bike on some steep and technical runs in the South West of England, the MBR crew appreciated “all the grip and tracking on offer (at the rear tyre especially)” and commented on the “ride sensation that remains well controlled and confident, even slinking down unfamiliar and very steep and nadgery tracks”.

Further to that, the team pointed out that just “after a couple of descents, I got the sense you can trust the FR 600 to not to deliver any nasty surprises”, which was reinforced by the “impressive TRP 4-piston brakes that are both powerful and solid with no waggling or inconsistency at the lever”, an important point when tackling some of the most demanding and technical tracks in the area, and very much our intension when specking the new ONE-SIXTY FR.

They concluded their review with the words:
“… in today’s marketplace this Merida One-Sixty FR looks like a hell of a lot of bike for the asking price. It’s solid and stable with decent kit throughout, and compared to rivals like the also recently-launched Kona Process X that comes in at £5,200 (with a not massively superior spec list and similar remit), Merida is asking for £1,700 less hard-earned dosh here on this new One-Sixty FR 600.”
