The Loam Wolf says the new LITHOS has “stellar support and traction when pushing hard”

Robert Johnson of The Loam Wolf has had the new MERIDA LITHOS e-MTB on test and the result has been very positive, saying that “It allowed for lines to be stuck that I typically wouldn’t feel comfortable hitting on a full-power eMTB, and had stellar support and traction when pushing hard”.

The LITHOS is our latest top-end e-MTB, designed to be the ideal bike for riders and racers looking to extract every last ounce of speed from the trail. With a full carbon fibre frame with 170 mm of travel, it’s been designed to create unstoppable flow even on the most technical enduro trails.

Loam Wolf tested the LITHOS 8000 ahead of the launch. Fitted with the latest RockShox suspension units and a carefully selected kit list from the likes of DT Swiss and SRAM, it wasn’t just the kit that found favour with the reviewer: “The overall package Merida put together on the Lithos ran suitably quietly and smoothly. The metallic green paint job on the 8k spec was beautiful in the flesh and the details were well covered in typical Merida style.”

With a Bosch Performance Line CXR drive unit and 800 Wh battery, the LITHOS 8000 offers plenty of power and range. To help on big days out, the battery is easily removable via the downtube, but for those looking to take on shorter missions, it is also possible to run the lighter weight 600 Wh Bosch Powertube to reduce overall weight.

In a similar vein, the LITHOS comes with a mixed 29/27.5” wheel setup as standard, but it is possible to run a full 29er setup for a no holds barred race setup. Despite the speed focus, the balance between efficiency and fun was praised in the review, with the tester saying: “when you backed off the aggression, the Lithos still offered enough composure and comfort to prevent it from being a race-only bike, but didn’t completely erase the trail below” and that it “jumped, popped, and played very well for a long-travel eBike”.

 Summing up the review, Robert said that: “riders looking for long-travel capability but without a full disconnection from the ride experience are likely to enjoy Merida’s latest eMTB”.
