“Riding this bike is like being shot out of a cannon”
So one of the finishing statements from the recent LITHOS 8000 review from Peter Scullion from Wideopen.
After Pete has been testing the eONE-SIXTY SL and the eONE-EIGHTY, both of which left a very positive impression with him, he was keen to throw a leg over the latest addition to our e-enduro lineup.
Out of the box, the bike impressed the Wideopen crew with the fact that it retained “the things that made the eONE-SIXTY so good”, but subtly tweaked “and a number of key details that help make it stand out against the rest of the pack”. That includes the sorted carbon frame, proven geometry and sizing concept, and other details to be kept, as well as aspects like the cable routing, which is now available through the headset or openings in the headtube, to be looked at.
Out on the trail, the 120 Nm Bosch power unit made an instant impression by offering “well delivered” power and helping to make most climbs a “doddle”. Pointing the LITHOS downwards really showed that “it wants to do”. According to Pete, the LITHOS carries speed, and before long he experienced that “the bike was going faster than my brain could compute and I was holding on and hoping to point it in the right direction”. A highlight for Pete was how the rear end was tracking the ground, helping towards his closing statement: “Whilst we might shed a tear for the departure of the long-lived eOne-Sixty, the Merida Lithos is every bit filling the big shoes left by its predecessor. Riding this bike is like being shot out of a cannon”.
