NON-STOP FROM THE PYRENEES TO THE SEA - A gravel tour with José Hermida

Over the last few months, many riders have explored the often forgotten trails and tracks near their home or they have used their refound freedom to roam the land to dive into new and exciting cycling adventure.

José Hermida decided to do both for his latest cycle adventure and combine his local knowledge of the many gravel roads and quiet lanes around his home town in the Pyrenees with taking it to the next level and making the coastal town of Sant Feliu de Guixols (Tossa de Mar) at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea his goal. All in all, his route would add up to over 220 km of gravel roads, lanes and tracks linking some of the most scenic areas and town on his ‘no-stop gravel tour from the Pyrenees to the sea’.

The exact route details are: distance 221 km, 147 km flat, 30 km of climbing, 44 km of descending, mix of asphalt and gravel roads + old train path that now it’s a Cycle Path with compacted sand. Trip time (including coffee breaks etc.) 9h 25 mins. Riding time 7h 45 mins.

His bike of choice was the ultra-versatile SILEX+ 8000-E that combines a beautiful full carbon frame with the ultra-reliable Shimano GRX groupset and comfortable yet fast-rolling 650B wheels – the perfect package to cover all kinds of terrain with the safe knowledge that nothing will interrupt this long day in the saddle. José also equipped his SILEX with our frame bag as well as saddle pack to be able to carry spare clothes, food and drink supplies, tools and spares for his adventure.

Enjoy his little video, which was supported by the Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona, showcasing his grand gravel tour.
