Two of the highlights of Rudi van Houts’ season were competing at London’s Olympic games and winning the award as Dutch mountainbiker of the year again. Teaming up with José Hermida, Rudi had a strong start into the season, dominating the Andalucia Bike Race in Southern Spain in early March. At the European Cross Country championships in Moscow, van Houts finished in 6th position, and at the World Championships in Saalfelden, MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM’s Dutchman crossed the line in 12th position. Add to that Rudi’s two top-15 finishes in Windham’s and Houffalize’s respective Worldcup races, and you get a solid season that saw him in 23rd of the Worldcup’s overall standings and in 26th of the UCI world ranking at the end of the year.
