THE NEW LITHOS

UNSTOPPABLE FLOW

Even in the most imposing terrain, it is possible to find flow. Named after the Ancient Greek for rock or stone, the new LITHOS is designed for serious enduro riders and racers, with a single minded focus on speed, no matter what turn the trail takes.

With a full carbon frame and 170 mm of travel at either end, it’s made for taking on the toughest tracks, whether pushing hard with friends or racing against the clock. The geometry and kinematics have been engineered with a focus on carrying speed, no matter what the gradient or ground. Born from our experience in creating rock-solid e-MTBs, we’ve doubled down on versatility, durability and reliability, because you need absolute faith in your equipment and setup for flat-out technical riding. That’s why we’ve partnered with Bosch to fit their latest CX and CX Race drive units plus 600 and 800 Wh batteries, giving big-brand performance and reliability, with proven worldwide sales support.

BUILT FOR SPEED

MADE FOR MAXIMUM MOMENTUM

The LITHOS stands as our flagship e-MTB, designed for speed on any terrain. While our other Bosch-powered ebikes have a focus on affordable performance (ETMO) or bike park fun (eONE-EIGHTY), the LITHOS is about squeezing out every drop of momentum from the mountain.

MAXIMUM TRAVEL FOR EVERY RIDER

FULLY TRAVEL ADJUSTABLE TEAM TR II DROPPER POST

Thanks to having a straight seat tube on all sizes of LITHOS frame, we can use our TEAM TR II dropper post on all bikes. With a maximum travel of 230 mm, it can be adjusted in travel down to just 30 mm without using any tools, so you always get the maximum amount of dropper post travel for maximum saddle clearance, no matter how tall or short you are.

DESIGNED FOR DEMAND

CORE DESIGN PRINCIPLES

When creating the LITHOS, our design philosophy was guided by three key pillars.

DURABILITY

Built to withstand the toughest terrain and riding conditions.

  • Bosch drive system with superb worldwide support and backup
  • Internal or semi-external cable routing
  • Larger bearings for longer life
  • Integrated fender against mud, option of the LONG FENDER
  • Kinematics without a shock yoke to reduce side loading forces and shock, and therefore increase durability
  • Huge chainstay protector and heel protector on the left chainstay and stand-alone heel protector on the right chainstay.
  • Transparent protection foil on the rear triangle.

RELIABILITY

Engineered for performance you can trust, ride after ride.

  • Flexpivot reduces the number of bearings
  • Lifetime warranty for Category 4 use
  • All bolts can be tightened with a 4 and 6 mm Hex tool stored in the axle or using the multitool below the saddle.
  • Removable battery enables quick access to all internal cables. Cables are routed in moulded carbon liners

VERSATILITY

Designed to adapt to any setup, terrain and riding style.

  • Internal or semi-external routing - carbon cable channels to guide cables
  • 600 Wh PowerTube battery with slim cover or 800 Wh with ‘Beluga’ cover
  • Flipchip to run 29“ or mixed wheel setup without geometry changes
  • 230 mm dropper post on all sizes, but with complete adjustability of travel to enable the longest possible seat post travel for each rider.

CARBON FRAME PLATFORM

ENGINEERED FOR PRECISION

At the heart of the LITHOS is our carbon fibre frame. With a lifetime warranty as standard, it’s built to handle riding and racing on technical trails without complaint. It was also important to balance low weight and compliance with accurate and predictable handling. We also wanted to use removable batteries in the downtube to allow easy battery changes and also easy access to cables.

CLEAN AND FLEXIBLE

DUAL ROUTING SYSTEM

We now also offer the option of routing all cables through our neat WIREPORT headset or through the frame’s THERMO GATE vents for a semi-internal routing. All cables get internal moulded guides to make routing easy too.

TWO SETUPS, ONE GEOMETRY

FLIP CHIP WHEEL SYSTEM

This versatility continues with our rear wheel flip chip, which allows you to run a full 29“ setup for pure speed or the standard mixed 29/27.5“ setup for a balance of stability and agility, all without changing the geometry. In the full 29“ setup, there is 160 mm of rear wheel travel and a chainstay length of 449 mm, versus 174 mm and a 447 mm stay with the mixed setup.

TAILORED FOR YOUR RIDE

MODULAR BATTERY SYSTEM

It’s possible to run either a super large 800 Wh battery or the smaller, lighter 600 Wh unit for riders who are after a lower overall weight at the expense of outright range. The oversize ‘Beluga’ cover for the large battery can be switched to a slimmer cover when using the smaller battery, reducing the bike’s overall profile.

PROTECTED BY DESIGN

LONG-LIFE FRAME SYSTEM

We use our proven flexstay suspension design to remove the seatstay pivot for lower maintenance, and also use extra-large bearings everywhere else to keep the back end smooth for longer. Like all of our full-suspension bikes, all bolts use a 4 or 6 mm Hex, so you can easily tighten them at the trailside using the tool hidden in the rear axle or our saddle-mounted multitool. We’ve also put a lot of effort into shielding the bike from damage, with transparent foil and rubber frame protection fitted as standard to prevent damage to the bike, especially around the chainstays.

PERFORMANCE WITHOUT LIMITS

COIL & AIR KINEMATICS

We’ve developed the suspension kinematic from the award-winning eONE-SIXTY SL and eONE-EIGHTY, giving excellent small bump performance with the latest generation of high-volume air shocks as well as coil compatibility. This design removes the shock yoke to prevent side-loading and premature wear, boosting durability, but allows us to get a perfect balance of pedalling efficiency, small-bump performance and big-hit control.

PURE RIDE FEEL

CONTROLLED FRAME FLEX

When designing the new LITHOS, we tested multiple carbon fibre layups to get the correct amount of compliance in the rear end. Compliance describes how much the material flexes under load, and we can tune it by adding or removing material. A frame needs to be stiff enough that it responds precisely and predictably under high loads. However, too much stiffness can cause a bike to have poor traction as the rear wheel is more likely to ‘skip’ on small bumps rather than allowing the tyre to remain in contact with the ground. A too-stiff frame will also feel harsh and transmit a lot of trail buzz to the rider, making the bike uncomfortable and more tiring.

To get the balance correct, we did blind back-to-back testing with a wide variety of riders, from EDR racers to weekend warriors, with a wide variety of tester builds and weights, too. The end result was unanimous, with a slightly more compliant rear triangle than we have used in the past being favoured by all the riders.

POWER YOU CAN TRUST

THE BOSCH SYSTEM ADVANTAGE

There are many drive unit options on the market, but we choose our partners carefully. Headline figures for power, torque, and battery capacity are important, but when it comes to living with a bike, there are other factors that matter just as much.

RELIABILITY

Bosch products have a reputation for durability and reliability that meshes perfectly with our ethos for the LITHOS. The latest Generation 5 CX and CX-R drive units have proven themselves to be tough, with best-in-class reliability.

PERFORMANCE

With the torque output now raised to 120 Nm and a maximum 750 W of power, they deliver plenty of power and control, but they still comply responsibly with all relevant pedelec legislation, creating a sustainable future for e-bikes.

GLOBAL SUPPORT

Their well-established support network provides excellent service worldwide, meaning that wherever your LITHOS takes you, you have peace of mind, easy access to spare parts, and access to technical know-how in most bike shops.

FAQs

A medium LITHOS frame weighs 3170g without axle and seat clamp.

Yes, the LITHOS frame kinematics are progressive enough to work well with the latest shocks on the market, both coil and air-sprung.

Moving from the 800 Wh battery to the 600 Wh version saves around 900g, making for a noticeable change to the handling balance, especially for smaller and lighter riders.

Yes, if your bike came with an 800 Wh battery, you do not need to change from the larger ‘Beluga’ cover (MERIDA CR-053) when using the smaller-capacity battery. The lower profile cover (MERIDA CR-037, shared with the eONE-EIGHTY) just makes the bike’s profile slimmer. You do need to run the larger cover if you are moving to an 800 Wh battery from a 600 Wh battery, however.

The bike comes with our through-headset WIRE PORT system as standard. This provides clean, neatly managed cables and, in our experience, it is easy to work on and requires minimal maintenance thanks to the improved sealing of the Acros headsets we use. However, if the rider prefers to route cables through the THERMO GATE vents on the headtube, there is space for four cables, and an additional blanking headset cover (Acros 300.52.0424) is included with each bike.
