Built for big air, pump tracks, tricks and generally giving it some stick, our new play hardtail has been created to take a beating and come back for more, with a tough but simple aluminium frame, 26“ wheels and components that can take a kicking without complaint - backed up by a five-year Category 5 (Freeride and Downhill) warranty. Designed to round out our gravity-bike range, it’s the perfect playtime partner for riders that want to sharpen up their skills or who want to kick off their dirt-riding career with a tough, more stylish option than a regular MTB hardtail or whose budget doesn’t stretch to our big jump ready full-suspension and e-MTB lineup.

Whether you’re a serious dirt jump head, cutting up new lines on the pumptrack or just taking it to the streets, the DIRT has been built with durability and simplicity first and foremost.

    The DIRT is a bike that’s built to be affordable and reliable. That’s why we’ve gone for tough and agile 26“ wheels with a singlespeed setup, which gives you bombproof reliability as there’s no expensive derailleur to get broken. With two simple specs – one designed to be as accessible and affordable as possible and the other fitted with top-notch kit – there’s a DIRT to suit every rider.

    The handling is designed to be precise without being punishing, with a short rear end making it easy to whip round corners or pop a manual. With two frame reach sizes available, the short bike is ideal for rapidfire tricks and pinpoint precision, while the long bike is best suited to taller riders or pumptrack sessions.

    We’ve got well over half a century of experience in making bikes and working with aluminium is how we’ve built our reputation for tough but lightweight bikes. This experience means we can create a frame that’s tough enough for the rigours of dirt jumping without being so overbuilt that it’s heavy and dead feeling.

    BUILT TOUGH, TUNED RIGHT.

    STIFF WHERE IT COUNTS, FORGIVING WHEN IT MATTERS.

    We’ve used 6061 aluminium and shaped the tubes so that it’s stiff and precise for pumping and pinpoint accuracy, but you aren’t going to feel beaten up every time you case a lip. It’s tested by EFBE to the highest and hardest Category 5 use level with a five-year warranty too.

    We’ve kept away from any strange standards either – the rear wheel has the classic 135x10 mm axle spacing and we use a normal BSA bottom bracket with dirt jump ready two-piece cranks. We’ve also gone for a ZS44/ZS56 headset, which allows the use of standard gyros for anyone that wants to throw endless barspins. We’ve also made sure there’s a bottle cage mount on the frame, something often overlooked but essential if you want to take a drink or a lock with you.

With the legendary RockShox Pike DJ fork, a SRAM 4-piston rear brake for max control, and a bombproof DT Swiss wheelset, this bike is made for riders pushing limits.     We chose to use a singlespeed-only frame design as it allows us to design a simpler, tougher frame that means we can offer this bike at a great price. Singlespeed setups are long-lasting, tough and there are no parts to be damaged in a crash. It also allows us a stronger wheel with more even spoke tension to be built.

    A bike must be supplied with two working brakes as standard by law, but we know most people buying this spec will be serious dirt jumpers who will probably remove the front brake at the first opportunity, so we’ve specced an affordable mechanical brake that can be kept if the rider wants or removed if not. The DIRT 500 is likely to see more use as an all-around bike, so we’ve specced two hydraulic disc brakes for that model, but both bikes come with plenty of rear hose length to make barspins possible.
