BikeRumor to check out our new REACTO

When the team from BikeRumor joined the launch of the Generation V REACTO, they were impressed from the outset by the latest incarnation of our long-standing aero bike.

As fans of the REACTO’s versatility and the ‘trilogy’ of aerodynamics, comfort, and handling, the team greatly appreciated not only the outstanding aerodynamic performance but also the comfort it offers. They commented that, “the previous Reacto was already surprisingly comfortable, and the new Merida Reacto 5 carries that over. One real signature comfort feature is the big S-flex cutout at the top of the deep aero seatpost, putting a halt to the inherent ride stiffness of an aero post…”

Contributing to the bike's aerodynamics and comfort is our new TEAM CW 1P cockpit, featured on the REACTO 10K test bike that BikeRumor focused on. They summarised their findings by pointing out that, “Another big boost in rider comfort comes from the unique riser shape of the new Team CW 1P integrated cockpit. The lower stem design helps smooth airflow, but those angled ramps up to the flats & tops of the bar do a great job of filtering out road buzz while retaining handling stiffness, even with narrower bars.”

Finally, the team were impressed by the increased tyre clearance, pointing out that “32mm tyre clearance is always a good way to add more comfort on those cobbled classics days, even if most riders will stick to 28-30mm tyres for most riding”.

Coming into the launch with high expectations, knowing that the new REACTO had to fill rather big boots, the BikeRumor crew certainly left our launch satisfied that the latest version of our aero bike will continue its legacy and will fill those big boots without any problems.
