Podium result for Mikel Landa

Last weekend a selection of riders of Team Bahrain Victorious competed in two one-day races in Italy. The best result came courtesy of Mikel Landa with a  3rd place at the GP Industria & Artigianato. As for the the initial two stages of the Paris-Nice stage race, Phil Bauhaus sprinted to two top10 finishes.

At the Paris-Nice stage race, Team Bahrain Victorious lines up with Jack Haig and Dylan Teuns as its co-captains for the overall standings. As for the three mountaintop finishes in the race these two can rely on the support of young Swiss rider Gino Mäder. For the more flat stages, Yukiya Arashiro, Marco Haller and Heinrich Haussler are tasked to support German sprinter Phil Bauhaus. The first two stages both saw a frantic finale with some crashes, but the riders of the team managed to avoid the carnage and Phil Bauhaus sprinted to a 7th and an 8th place respectively, scoring two top10 results to start things off. Tuesday’s mostly flat individual time trial over a distance of 14.4 kilometer is expected to give a more distinctive shape to the race’s overall standings.

Last weekend the Team Bahrain Victorious was also competing in two one-day races in Italy. As for the GP Industria & Artigianato contested around the town of Larciano, the riders in red and black showed a strong performance. After a first attack by Mikel Landa, young Colombian Santiago Buitrago marked an attack of a group of riders and set up the stage for Mikel Landa to go up the road with four other riders. The sprint for the win was contested by these five riders, with Mikel Landa finishing in 3rd. One day earlier Pello Bilbao had rode a strong semi-classic Strade Bianche, but as many others he missed out on the decisive attack with about 50 kilometers to go. Teaming up with ten other riders, he managed to reduce the gap but not to close it and crossing the finish line in Siena in 10th place.
